Wedding flower trends for 2023

WEDDING FLOWER TRENDS 2023

When it comes to wedding flowers, I am frequently asked about the latest trends. However, I believe that knowing your personal style and preferences is more important than following trends. Many brides have limited knowledge about flowers and turn to platforms like Pinterest and Instagram to gather inspiration for their big day. As a florist, I appreciate it when a potential client shares their Pinterest board with me as it helps me understand their preferences better. Although I may have seen some of the images before, having an idea of what the client likes is a significant advantage. In some cases, I may not even meet the bride in person, and our communication would be limited to phone calls, FaceTime or email, or through a wedding planner. As a specialist in natural and sustainable floristry, I cater to brides who share my style. Here are some potential wedding flower trends for 2023:

  1. Bold and bright colours: Vibrant and bold colours are predicted to be popular in 2023, with couples choosing bright hues such as fuchsia, orange, and yellow to create a lively and festival atmosphere.

  2. Natural and wild arrangements: Natural, wild, and organic arrangements are predicted to be in style for 2023. This trend emphasizes the use of greenery, branches, and wildflowers to create a lush and unstructured look.

  3. Sustainable and eco-friendly flowers: Couples are becoming increasingly environmentally conscious and are choosing to use sustainable and locally sourced flowers to reduce their carbon footprint.

  4. Unique and unexpected floral elements: Couples are opting for unique and unexpected floral elements, such as dried flowers, unusual varieties of blooms, and sculptural statement arrangements. Hanging istallations are also very popular again this year.

  5. Minimalist and modern designs: Minimalist and modern designs featuring simple, clean lines and monochromatic colour schemes are a growing trend and the Japanese ikebana styled arrangements also growing in popularity this year.

Overall, the wedding flower trends for 2023 are likely to focus on bold colours, (however there is always and element of brides that will want to play safe and prefer green and white or neutral tones) natural arrangements, sustainable and eco-friendly options, dried floral arrangements, hanging installations and minimalist (ikebana styles) designs. However, it's important to keep in mind that trends are always evolving, and each couple should choose wedding flowers that reflect their unique style and personality. I would always encourage a large statement piece, whether its and arch or a hanging installation, to create a great focal and point and feature.
